Installation details for G-sensors on 4WD Galant models through 1993 vol.
Front G-sensor: 1 - Electrical wiring connector; 2 - Front acceleration sensor; 3 - Sensor support bracket
Rear G-sensor: 4 - Contact electrical wiring connector; 5 - G-sensor cover; 6 - Rear acceleration sensor; 7 - Sensor support bracket
G-sensors are used only on all-wheel drive (AWD) models and are installed in the luggage compartment under the carpet (rear sensor) and under the center console assembly in the passenger compartment (front sensor). Sensors transmit information to the ABS ECU about overloads that occur during acceleration or deceleration of the vehicle. The analysis of incoming signals, coupled with data received from wheel sensors and information about the operating parameters of the power unit, allows the ECU to determine the reliability of the adhesion of the wheel protectors to the road surface and control the operation of the hydraulic modulator taking into account this factor.
Removing
1. Remove the center console assembly (front sensor) / carpet in the luggage compartment (rear sensor).
2. Disconnect the wiring from the sensor.
3. Remove the cover from the sensor (rear sensor).
4. Remove the sensor from the support bracket. If necessary, also remove the bracket.
Installation
1. If removed, replace the sensor support bracket.
2. Install the sensor on the bracket and connect the wiring to it. Tighten the fixing bolts to the required torque (11 Nm).
3. Install the sensor cover (rear sensor).
4. Reinstall the console assembly/luggage compartment carpet.
