Removing, installing and adjusting the position of the tailgate (Hatchback and Station wagon models)

Hatchback Models (Mirage to 1992 issue.)

Removing

1. Having turned out fixing screws or bolts, disconnect an emphasis of a door of a back.

2. Disconnect the rear window washer tube.

3. Disconnect the relevant electrical wiring.

4. Close the tailgate and release the nuts securing the hinge bars from the car interior.

5. With the help of an assistant, carefully remove the door assembly.

Installation and adjustment

1. Install the door in its proper place and finger-tighten the hinge nuts.

2. Install door stops.

3. Close the door and check the correctness of its position in the body opening. If necessary, adjust the hinge strips accordingly, then tighten the fasteners to the required torque (15 Nm).

4. Restore the original wiring connection.

5. Connect the rear window washer fluid supply pipe - make sure that the pipe is securely fixed on the fitting.


6. Check up serviceability of operation of a latch of the lock. If necessary, loosen the fastener and adjust the striker position accordingly.

7. Check the tightness of the door closing, if necessary, tighten the rubber stops accordingly.

Models Wagon (Diamante)

Removing

1. Tailgate installation details on Wagon models (Wagon) shown in the illustration.

2. Remove the door stop.

3. Disconnect the rear window washer fluid supply pipe.

4. Disconnect the relevant electrical wiring.

5. Ask an assistant to hold the door and give the nuts that secure the hinge strips to the door frame.

6. Remove the door from the vehicle.

Installation and adjustment

1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Make sure that the fixing nuts are tightened to the required torque (14 Nm).

2. Check up correctness of placement of a door in a body aperture. If necessary, loosen the nuts securing the hinge bars and make the appropriate adjustments.

3. Check up serviceability of functioning of a latch of the lock. Adjust the striker position if necessary.
