Pic. 6.13. Check the vacuum on a cold and warm engine, applying a high load with a fast throttle opening
2. Check the vacuum on a cold and warm engine, applying a high load with a quick throttle opening.
Engine cold (coolant temperature: 20°C or lower):
throttle valve | Normal condition |
Quick open | Vacuum is not created (equal to atmospheric air pressure) |
Engine warm (coolant temperature 80°C or higher):
throttle valve | Normal condition |
Quick open | Short-term increase greater than 13 kPa |
3. Disconnect the adapter.
4. Connect a hand vacuum pump to the EGR valve (pic. 6.14).
Pic. 6.14. Check if the engine is stalling and «swim» whether idle speed, if at idle a vacuum of at least 30 kPa is created
5. Check if the engine stalls and «swim» whether idle speed, if at idle a vacuum of at least 30 kPa is created.
