Adjustment of a backlash of a gear wheel of a drive of a starter

1. Disconnect the excitation coil wiring from the M terminal of the traction relay.

2. Connect the battery between terminal S and terminal M (pic. 7.13).



3. Turn on the ignition. The drive gear should pop out.

Attention! This test is carried out for 10 seconds so that the winding does not burn out.

4. Measure the gap between the gear and the thrust ring with a ruler (pic. 7.14). Gap: 0.5-2.0 mm.



5. If the gap is out of range, check the seals between the traction relay and the front cover (pic. 7.15).
