Checking the starter manifold

1. Place the anchor on two wooden stands and measure the runout with a dial gauge (pic. 7.22). Limit value: 0.05 mm.



2. Measure the outside diameter of the manifold (pic. 7.23).



On direct drive starters:

• Target value: 32.0 mm.
• Maximum allowable value: 31.4 mm.

On planetary starters:

• Target value: 29.4 mm.
• Maximum allowable value: 28.8 mm.

3. Check the depth of the grooves between the segments (pic. 7.24).

• Set value: 0.5 mm.
• Maximum permissible value: 0.2 mm.
