Checking the ignition coil with a 4G9 engine power transistor

1. Check the resistance of the secondary coil. Measure the resistance between the high voltage terminals of the ignition coils (pic. 7.33). Set value: 14-21 kΩ (except MW), 20-30 kOhm (MW).



2. Check primary coil and power transistor.

Attention! When checking, use an analog voltmeter. Connect the negative wire of the voltmeter to terminal 2 (pic. 7.34). This check is very fast (within 10 seconds), so that the coil and power transistor do not burn out.
