Valve spring — check

1. Measure the free length of each spring and replace if necessary (pic. 2.23).



12-valve engines Normal value: inlet valve - 46.1 mm, exhaust valve - 46.8 mm.

Limit value: intake valve - 45.1 mm, exhaust valve - 45.8 mm.

8-valve engines Normal value: 44.6 mm.

Limit value: 43.6 mm.

2. Check the spring for squareness with a square. If the deviation is greater than the allowable value, replace the spring.

Normal value: 2°or less. Limit value: 4°.
