Uphill movement
The transmission may not upshift if the computer determines that the vehicle will not be able to maintain the same speed when upshifting. To ensure smooth vehicle movement, if you release the throttle while climbing a steep hill, the transmission may not shift up. This is normal because the computer temporarily does not allow gear changes. After reaching the top of the hill, normal shifting is restored.
Downhill driving
When driving downhill on steep slopes, the computer may automatically select a lower gear. This feature enhances the braking effect of the motor and thus reduces the need to use the brakes.
Gear selector position
The automatic transmission has four forward gears and one reverse gear. This or that gear is selected automatically depending on the position of the gear selector lever, the speed of the vehicle and the position of the accelerator pedal. The gear selector lever has 7 positions and is equipped with a lock button to prevent accidental shifting into the wrong gear.
To move the gear selector lever, press the button.
You don't need to press the button to move the gear selector lever.
Warning lights on the instrument panel indicate the position of the gear selector lever, and one of them lights up when the ignition is turned on.
If the light bulb «N» on the gear selector lever position indicator flashes, this indicates a malfunction of the automatic transmission.
If the light bulb «N» flashing fast (twice per second), when the lever is in position «D», «3», «2» or «L» - fluid overheating in automatic transmission.
Stop your car in a safe place, but do not turn off the engine. Move the gear selector lever to position «R» and open the hood. Leave the engine running at idle. After a while, move the gear selector lever to the position «D», «3», «2» or «L» and make sure the flashing light «N» stopped. If the light no longer flashes, you can continue driving. signal light «N» only works when the lever is in the specified positions.
Gear lever positions
R - parking
In this position, the transmission is blocked, preventing the vehicle from moving. In this position, you can start the engine.
Attention! Never turn position «R» (parking) while the car is moving. Move lever to position «R» or «R» while driving may damage the transmission.
R - reverse
Move the lever to this position only after the vehicle has come to a complete stop.
N - neutral position
In this position, the transmission is disabled. It is similar to the neutral position of a manual transmission and should be used when the vehicle is stopped for a long period of time during a journey, such as traffic jams.
Attention! Never move the lever to the position while driving «N», as engine braking becomes impossible. When parking on a slope, start the engine with the lever in the «R» (parking), but not «N» (neutral position).
D - move forward (gear shifts automatically)
This position is used for city and highway driving, from a complete stop to maximum speed. If necessary, in appropriate road conditions, engine braking is automatically activated.
3 - third / 2 - second gear
This position is used to generate additional power when driving downhill with a moderate incline and for engine braking when driving downhill with a moderate incline.
L - low gear
This position is used when driving downhill on a steep slope or for engine braking at low speed while descending a hill.
Attention! This position can be used for maximum engine braking. Avoid sudden shifting «I.». Sudden engine braking can cause a skid. Engage this position according to road conditions and vehicle speed.
