General description of the emission control system

There are three sources of environmental pollution in the car - crankcase gases, exhaust gases and gasoline fumes, represented by incompletely burned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides. Equipment used to limit the content of these harmful substances is called equipment to reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

In recent vehicles, many engine functions are increasingly controlled by an electronic control unit, eliminating the need for a large number of vacuum hoses and links located around the engines of earlier models.
