Custom Parts - If inspection has shown that the cylinders of the engine block and most of its components are in a condition that allows them to be used further, the most economical alternative is to purchase only the necessary spare parts and parts. Cylinders, crankshaft and pistons/connecting rods should be carefully examined. Even if there is only minimal wear on the cylinder, the cylinder bores should be ground.
Replacing the piston group - if the inspection showed that all parts have a lot of wear, we recommend replacing the piston group with a new one, rather than buying parts separately. The piston group of the factory configuration includes sets: pistons, rings (compression and oil scraper), piston pins.
Replace with a set of connecting rods. If necessary, if the connecting rods do not have deformation and mechanical damage, it is possible to replace the bushings for the piston pin, but after replacement, it is necessary to expand the hole to the required diameter (fit piston pin). The crankshaft after a thorough check must be replaced or reground to the next repair size. Carefully consider which option best suits your needs and discuss the situation with a workshop or auto shop or more experienced technicians before ordering or acquiring replacement parts.
It is much easier to disassemble the engine and work with it if it is mounted on a portable stand. Such a stand can be rented for a very reasonable fee. Before installing the engine on the stand, remove the gearbox from it.
If you do not have a stand, you can disassemble the engine by fixing it on the floor or table. Be extremely careful not to drop the engine when handling it without a stand.
If you intend to purchase a remanufactured engine, you must first remove all external components in order to transfer them to the purchased engine, in the same way as if they were installed on an engine that you decided to rebuild yourself.
CAUTION: When removing external components from the engine, pay close attention to all parts that may be useful during installation. Note the position of all gaskets, seals, bushings, studs, brackets, washers, bolts and other small parts.
