Elements of the timing belt
1 - power steering hose bracket; 2 - clamp; 3 - generator bracket; 4 - top cover; 3 - bottom cover; 6 - flange; 7 - bracket for power steering pump; 8 - engine support bracket; 9 - camshaft drive belt.
Adjusting elements of a gear belt
1 - installation marks; 2 - camshaft gear; 3 - gear wheel of the coolant pump; 4 alignment marks; 5 - gear wheel of the crankshaft; 6 - timing belt tensioner.
Removing
Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
Remove the lower left hand guard and engine mount bracket.
Remove the crankshaft pulley.
Remove the power steering hose bracket.
Remove the power steering hose clamp.
Remove the alternator bracket.
Remove the upper timing belt cover.
Remove the lower timing belt cover.
Remove the flange.
Remove the power steering pump mounting bracket.
Remove the engine mount bracket.
Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the alignment marks on the camshaft gear and the crankshaft gear are aligned, which corresponds to the position of the piston of the 1st cylinder at TDC of the compression stroke.
Loosen the adjusting bolt (2) camshaft drive belt tensioner.
With a screwdriver (3) fully retract the tensioner (1) camshaft drive belt back (in the direction of the arrow).
Lightly tighten the adjusting bolt.
Remove the camshaft drive belt.
CAUTION: If the camshaft drive belt is to be reused, an arrow must be marked on the non-working surface of the belt indicating the direction of rotation.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order, taking into account the following:
Insert screwdriver (3), as shown above and move the timing belt tensioner fully back (in the direction of the arrow) and then lightly tighten the adjusting bolt.
Align the alignment marks on the crankshaft and camshaft gears.
Install the camshaft drive belt on the gears in the following order, making sure that the working side of the belt is tensioned: crankshaft, water pump, camshaft, tensioner pulley.
CAUTION: After installing the camshaft drive belt, turn the crankshaft wheel counterclockwise half a turn, then check the belt tension and match the alignment marks.
Loosen the idler pulley adjusting bolt 1/2-1/4 turn to allow the tensioner spring to move the idler and tension the belt.
Turn the crankshaft clockwise 2 turns and check that the alignment marks are aligned.
CAUTION: Never rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise.
Check that the timing belt teeth do not protrude above the wheel (1) camshaft in the sector indicated in the figure as (A), and the correctness of its engagement on both pulleys. After that, tighten the tensioner roller adjusting bolt to the appropriate torque.
install flange (3), as it shown on the picture.
Further assembly is carried out in the reverse order.
