Removing
Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
Remove the left mudguard under the engine.
Install a jack and a wide board under the oil sump. Raise the jack to support the engine without lifting it.
Disconnect the engine mounts.
Remove the engine bracket.
Remove the alternator belt and power steering pump belt.
Remove the air conditioner tensioner and belt.
Remove the water pump pulley along with the power steering pump pulley.
Remove the crankshaft pulley.
Remove the front engine covers.
Remove the center cover, crankcase ventilation hose and breather hose from the cylinder head cover.
Disconnect wires from spark plugs.
Remove a cover of a head of the block of cylinders and its lining Take out a semicircular stopper from a head.
Rotate the crankshaft clockwise and align all timing marks on the toothed belt. The marks on the camshaft gears must align with the top surface of the cylinder head (B), and the mounting pins (2) (guide pins) in the center of the gears (1) And (3) camshafts must point upwards. In this case, the engine is set to a position in which the piston is set to TDC of the compression stroke.
WARNING: Do not touch the crankshaft or camshafts in this position. This can cause severe engine damage.
Remove the automatic tensioner.
Remove the camshaft gear drive.
Remove the tensioner pulley.
Remove the throttle body bracket.
Carefully remove the crankshaft position sensor.
Remove the exhaust camshaft sprocket and front camshaft oil seals.
It is necessary to hold the camshaft with a key against the hexagon only in order to prevent the shaft from turning. Don't try to block both gears - they break easily.
Starting at the front camshaft bearing caps, loosen the cap bolts in several steps from the front caps to the rear caps. Remove bearing caps.
Remove camshafts.
Installation
CAUTION: Check the condition of the camshaft lobes. If any shaft is worn, replace it along with the pushrods for that cam.
Before assembling, having generously lubricated the cams and the neck of the shafts with clean engine oil, install the camshafts in the cylinder head.
After installing each camshaft in place (2) turn it so that the dowel pin (1) from the side of the gear wheel was located on top.
The exhaust shaft must be rotated another 3 clockwise.
The remaining operations are carried out in reverse order.
