- Gasoline engines with fuel injection: gaskets for hollow bolts.
- Fuel filter for the respective engine.
- A container is needed to collect water sediment.
Water removal
The signal to remove water is the fuel filter warning lamp on the instrument panel.
Place a suitable container under the drain plug.
Unscrew the drain plug (water level sensor) by 2±2.1/2 turns.
Pump with hand pump until clean diesel fuel appears.
Turn on the water drain valve by hand.
Remove air from the fuel system.
Filter replacement
To release the pressure in the tank, briefly unscrew the fuel tank cap.
Drain all fluid from the fuel filter.
Disconnect the water alarm connector, if equipped.
Remove the fuel filter cartridge from the filter housing with the fuel filter wrench.
If present, remove the water switch, check and install in a new filter. Clamp the water level sensor in a vise and remove by turning the filter housing.
To check the water level sensor, connect an ohmmeter to the connector. With the float raised, the ohmmeter should show 0 ohms, with the float lowered - infinity.
Wet the gasket with diesel fuel, fill the fuel filter to the brim with diesel fuel and secure.
Remove air from the fuel system.
Check the fuel system for leaks after driving.
Bleeding air from the fuel system
Loosen the air release screw.
Pump the hand pump until no more air bubbles come out of the hole.
Close the air release screw.
Pump with a hand pump until you feel resistance.
Warm up the engine and start it.
If the engine does not start, repeat the bleeding process.
Check the fuel system for leaks, especially at the fuel filter connection.
