16.2b Lubricate the oil seal with clean engine oil and carefully tap it into place
2. The oil seal can be replaced without removing the oil pan and oil seal mount. This method is not recommended as you may damage the seal during installation. If you want to take a chance, remove the old oil seal (16.2a). Lubricate the oil seal with clean engine oil and carefully tap it into place (16.2b).
3. The following method is recommended for safe oil seal replacement
4. Remove the oil pan, unscrew the bolts, remove the oil seal mount and the mounting gasket.
16.5 Position the oil seal mount on two pieces of wood and knock out the old oil seal

16.6 Install new oil seal
6. Install a new oil seal (16.6).
7. Lubricate the oil seal with clean engine oil. Install a new holder gasket.
8. Install the oil seal on the crankshaft.
9. Tighten the gland mounting bolts.
10. Install the remaining parts.
11. Start the engine and check for leaks.
