Engine oil
4.1a The dipstick for checking the oil level is located near the clamp on some models
4.1b Location of the dipstick for checking the oil level on Galant models
4.1c The oil level should be between the MIN and MAX marks on the dipstick - if not, add oil to bring it up to the MAX mark (to raise the oil level from the MIIM mark to the MAX mark, approximately 1 liter of oil is required)
4.1d Rotate the filler cap half a turn and remove it - be sure to clean the area around the cap before removing it
1. To check the oil level, use the dipstick located on the side of the front of the engine. The oil level must be checked before driving or 15 minutes after the engine has been switched off (4.1a, 4.1b, 4.1c and 4.1d).
Engine coolant
Attention! Make sure that antifreeze does not get on the skin or the painted surface of the body. Wash off spilled antifreeze with plenty of water. Do not leave a new container of antifreeze open and do not leave antifreeze spilled - the sweet smell of antifreeze may attract children or pets. Inhaling even a small amount of antifreeze can be fatal.
4.2 Check that the coolant level in the reservoir is between the upper and lower marks - if it is below the lower mark, add coolant to the required level.
All models use a closed cooling system. The white plastic coolant reservoir is located in the engine compartment and is connected by a hose to the radiator filler neck (4.2). Check the fluid level in the reservoir regularly. When the engine is cold, the fluid level should be just above the LOW mark on the reservoir. When the engine is warm, the coolant level should rise to the FULL mark. If not, add a 50% mixture of water and ethylene glycol antifreeze.
Windshield washer fluid
4.3a On some models, the washer fluid reservoir is located near the coolant reservoir - do not confuse these two reservoirs
4.3b On other models, the washer fluid reservoir is located separately from the coolant reservoir - remove the cap and add washer fluid
3. The plastic washer fluid reservoir is located in the engine compartment. In cold weather, use washer fluid antifreeze (4.3a and 4.3b).
Battery electrolyte
4.4 Remove the caps of the battery sections and check the electrolyte level - if it is low, add distilled water
4. All models described in this manual are equipped with a battery that does not require additional maintenance and electrolyte addition (4.4).
Brake fluid and clutch release fluid
4.5a The brake fluid level must be between the MIN and MAX marks - unscrew the cap to add fluid
4.5b On some models, the fluid level must be between the MAX and A marks (and must not fall below B)
5. The main brake cylinder is located on the front side of the servo booster in the engine compartment. The clutch release master cylinder is located next to the brake master cylinder. The fluid level must be between the MIN and MAX marks on the reservoir (4.5a and 4.5b).
