Do not treat the car body with a protective compound in direct sunlight. The protective composition must be applied to cold metal. It is not recommended to use protective compositions containing highly abrasive substances.
Such protective compositions effectively remove rust and stains, but can gloss from the painted surface, since together with rust and stains they remove the polishing coating. These compounds also have a negative effect on "shiny surfaces such as grille or trim elements.
Do not use gasoline or thinners to remove road tar or other contaminants from painted surfaces.
On vehicles with a sunroof, be careful not to apply a protective body coat to the sunroof seal (black rubber). If such a protective agent gets on the seal, it will no longer be able to keep moisture out through the top hatch.
Polishing
If polished surfaces have been damaged and lost their original luster and hue, polish these surfaces with a mild polish. Try to polish not only the damaged area, but also the surface around it, moving the polishing cloth in one direction. After polishing is complete, rinse off the polish from the body surface and apply a coat of protective compound to give the surface a glossy finish.
Damaged paint
Small cracks and scratches in the paint should be repaired as soon as possible with a special film or paint to prevent corrosion.
Check the sills and underbody of the vehicle, as well as the area behind the wheels, for damage to the body paint from flying stones, etc. The color code number for your vehicle can be found on the vehicle information panel located in the engine compartment.
Cleaning of plastic elements
When cleaning plastic elements, do not forget that:
1. If you use a hard brush or a protective agent containing abrasive substances, the plastic elements may be damaged. Clean them with a washcloth or suede cloth. Use protective products that do not contain abrasive substances.
2. If oil, grease or brake fluid gets on the plastic parts, use a soft cloth dampened with alcohol to remove it as soon as possible. Otherwise, a stain may remain in this place or it may change its color.
Chrome elements
In order to prevent stains and corrosion on the chrome parts of the car, wash them with water, then dry thoroughly and apply a protective compound. If the chrome finish is badly damaged or pitted, use a chrome polish.
Cast aluminum alloy wheel rims (if installed)
Clean aluminum alloy wheel rims with soap and water, protect their surface with a protective compound. Do not use chrome polish or abrasive cleaners as this will damage the protective coating
Precautions for cast aluminum wheels
- During the first 1600 km, check the tightness of the wheel nuts.
- After rearranging or replacing a wheel, check the tightness of the wheel nuts for 1600 km after removing the wheel.
- When using chains, be careful not to damage the discs.
- Disc nuts must be branded, tighten the nuts only with a wrench designed for aluminum wheels.
- When balancing a wheel, use only branded weights (or equivalent), which are attached with a rubber or plastic hammer.
- Periodically check the condition of the disks. Replace disc immediately if damage is found.
Glass
Glasses can usually be cleaned using only a washcloth and water. Glass cleaner should be used to remove wax, oil, grease, insect remains, etc. After the glass has been washed, wipe it dry with a clean, dry, soft cloth.
Cleaning the top hatch
Wipe the sunroof from inside the vehicle with a soft cloth. Hard deposits must be removed with a cloth soaked in a warm solution of neutral detergent powder. Remove any remaining dirt with a washcloth soaked in clean water.
Note. The protective coating on the inside of the top hatch may be damaged if a hard cloth or organic solvent is used.
